Our Mechanical Breakdown Insurance (MBI) policy is a smart addition to your motor vehicle insurance portfolio, covering you in case of sudden and unforeseen mechanical and electrical failure.
MBI can only be purchased at the time of vehicle sale when purchased from a Protecta approved Dealership. Your dealer will discuss the best option for your new vehicle. Not all cover types are available at every dealership.

Note: While an MBI policy is always recommended when purchasing a new vehicle, it cannot replace a manufacturer's obligations or warranties. An MBI policy is recommended after your warranty has expired—most mechanical issues come out of the woodwork once your manufacturer's warranty has run out.

It’s a great idea to read your Policy Conditions which include important details about the limits of your insurance cover.
Your Claim Limit and Excess depend on your vehicle type and the amount of kilometres on your odometer at the policy start date. You can find your Claim Limit and Excess in your Certificate of Insurance.
Regular servicing of your vehicle is required to maintain the integrity of the vehicle and cover under the policy. Please ensure the vehicle is serviced in line with the manufacturer’s requirements and intervals. Where the manufacturer requirements are unknown, we request you service your vehicle as per the following:
Note: The servicing required to be carried out should follow your Vehicle Service Programme. Failure to complete the service requirements may result in any associated claim being declined. Protecta requires your servicing to be carried out by a registered MTA workshop to offer you the most protection.
